There are no immediate impacts of the federal government shutdown to THA’s day-to-day operations. All staff are still working and available, and our main office (415 E. Independence St.) and property offices remain open and staffed.
In the short term, Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) to landlords participating in Section 8 should continue without interruption. A prolonged shutdown (beyond a month) could lead to delays in HUD funding, potentially affecting HAP disbursements. We understand this causes temporary hardship for landlords, and our hope is that any lapse in HAP does not occur. We will share any pertinent updates with Section 8 landlords as soon as we have them. Please watch your landlord portal for information.
There is no immediate threat of eviction for Section 8 tenants. Any attempts to evict without cause during this period may violate tenant rights. Tenants must continue paying their rent portion promptly to avoid any issues with their lease. Any tenant questions should be directed to your Housing Coordinator.
All residents of THA properties must continue to pay their rent portion. There is no immediate impact of the government shutdown on THA properties.
