Who is Housing Partners of Tulsa, Inc.?
Housing Partners of Tulsa, Inc. (HPT) was created in 1991 as a 501(c)(3 Housing Partners of Tulsa (HPT) is a non-profit corporation. The mission of HPT is to provide a wide-range of affordable housing options for low and moderate income Tulsans and to promote programs leading to self-sufficiency and home ownership.
Since 1999, HPT has been recognized by the City of Tulsa as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). Operating as a CHDO, the housing counseling services offered by HPT, operating in cooperation with the Housing Authority of the City of Tulsa (THA) benefit renters, potential homebuyers and current homeowners. HPT as been a HUD certified Housing Counseling Agency since 1998, and has received HUD housing counseling grants since 1999. Also since 1999, HPT has received funds from the City of Tulsa's HOME program for its Affordable Housing for Homeownership program. This program acquires distressed non-luxury single-family homes, makes repairs and other alterations to bring the homes to current building standards, including installation of new appliances where appropriate, and then sells the homes to persons qualifying on the basis of income. Returning these homes to owner-occupied housing stock helps promote stability in neighborhoods. All rehabilitated homes are located within the city limits of Tulsa, and are sold to low to moderate income individuals or families as defined by HUD.
Since 2003, THA has partnered with HPT to administer the Section 8 Homeownership Voucher Program. These vouchers, offered through HUD, assist income-eligible first-time homeowners with their monthly homeownership expenses.
